Motorcycle Unit

home

The Cromwell Police Department's Motorcycle Unit was formed in the summer of 2004, initially funded by a Federal Highway Traffic Safety Grant. A fully equipped Harley-Davidson motorcycle was obtained along with related equipment for the two officers assigned to the unit. The motorcycle has the latest in emergency lighting., radio, and laser speed detection systems.

This specialized vehicle and equipment will be used in conjunction with the Department's regular patrol forces in an effort to promote and enforce traffic safety on our local streets and highways.

The motorcycle unit has already been utilized for specialized traffic assignments such as the 2004 State Fireman's Convention and Parade held in Cromwell, and in the fall campaign for the Connecticut's "Click it or Ticket" seatbelt program.
