  How do I obtain a copy of a police or accident report ? 

Call 635-2256 and follow the menu options for records. Provide the records clerk with your name or the Case Number. You will be told if the report is available, the cost, and when you can obtain the report.

 

 

          How do I get an application for a pistol permit?       

Pistol permit applications can be obtained at any time from the dispatch center. You must be a resident of Cromwell to be issued a local permit.

 

 

   How do I register my residential or business alarm?

Call the Records Department and a registration form can be mailed to you, or print the form here. There is a registration fee of $25.00.

 

 

          How do I contest a parking ticket?       

You can obtain the necessary paperwork to contest a parking ticket at any time from the Dispatch Center or print the Form from our website

 

 

  What should I do if I receive a Bad Check?

 

1. Always obtain Identification when accepting checks. A Connecticut Operator's License is the best form of I.D. Record the 9-digit number on the check. Compare photo on license with party passing the check. Court Will Not Accept Complaints Without Verifying I.D.

After receiving a bad check (NFS/Account Closed):

 

2.Make a good faith effort to resolved the situation on your own by contacting the issuing party.

 

3. Having no success under Item #1, send the issuing party a letter by certified mail. This brief letter requests payment within eight (8) days and should include the following data:

 

A) Check number
B) Amount
C) Return receipt

 

This letter serves a formal notice that the check was refused by the bank. Obtain the return receipt from the post office.

 

4. After eight (8) days (from date of postmark) have elapsed, contact the Cromwell Police Department Detective Division to make a complaint. Call before coming in to briefly review the circumstances of your complaint.

 

5. At a pre-arranged time come to the Cromwell Police Department with:

 

A) Check number
B) Amount
C) Return receipt

6. A brief statement will be obtained from you at this time which serves as your complaint.
